Aaron Tveit has temporarily taken over the role in Link Larkin in Hairspray, replacing injured star Ashley Parker Angel, who is expected to return by month’s end.

Tveit has previously played the role of Link. He appeared earlier this year in Next to Normal, for which he received a Lucille Lortel Nomination, and will star next month in the Playwrights Horizons’ musical Saved.

As previously reported, Karen Mason will take over the role of Velma Von Tussle from Mary Birdsong on Tuesday, April 8, while Jenifer Lewis will take over the role of Motormouth Maybelle from Darlene Love on Tuesday, April 22. In addition, Shannon Durig will leave the show as Tracy Turnblad on Sunday, April 13; no replacement has been named.

Based on the hit film by John Waters, Hairspray has music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Whitman, and a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan. The show is directed by Jack O’Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
