Spring Awakening Will Hold Open Auditions on April 29

Open auditions for future cast members of the Broadway musical Spring Awakening will be held on Sunday, April 29 at the New Dance Group (305 West 38th Street) beginning at 11am. This casting call is open to Actors’ Equity members and non-members.

The production is seeking male singers ages 17-21 and female singers ages 16-21. Interested performers should bring a recent picture and résumé, and prepare a short folk/alternative rock song. All those auditioning are instructed to bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

Based on the groundbreaking 1891 Frank Wedekind play of the same title, Spring Awakening is directed by Michael Mayer, has music by singer/songwriter Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater, and is choreographed by Bill T. Jones. The show tells the story of a group of teenagers dealing with the pleasures and pains of adolescence.
