Roger Rees and Kenita R. Miller to Guest Star at Make-A-Wish Benefit

Broadway stars Roger Rees and Kenita R. Miller will be the special guest artists at We Tell The Story: The Songs of Ahrens and Flaherty, a benefit concert for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, to be held at 8pm on Monday, April 30 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street).

The show will feature the songs of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, whose shows include Ragtime, Once on this Island, Seussical, and The Glorious Ones, which is currently receiving its world premiere in Pittsburgh.

The show will be directed by Phil Acorso, with musical direction by Amanda Morton and choreography by Amanda Spriggs. Other performers include Q. Smith, Joe Aaron Reid, Kara Boyer, Kimberly Burns, Peter Carrier, Creighton Fraker, Katie Kozlowski, Jamal McDonald, Lucy Sorensen, and Bruce Warren.

Rees received the Tony Award for The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and a Tony nomination for Indiscretions. He is currently artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Rees is also known for his television work on Cheers and Grey’s Anatomy. Miller starred in the title role of Ahrens and Flaherty’s Dessa Rose and played Celie in the Broadway hit The Color Purple. She will next be seen on Broadway in Xanadu.
