Foxworth, Linklater, Urie, et al. Set for South Coast Rep’s Hamlet

Television and stage favorites Hamish Linklater, Robert Foxworth, and Michael Urie will play the roles of Hamlet, Claudius, and Horatio, respectively, in the South Coast Repertory’s production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, May 25-July 1. The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan.

The cast also features Linda Gehringer (Gertrude), Dakin Matthews (Polonius), Richard Doyle (Ghost), Hal Landon Jr. (Gravedigger and Player King), Brooke Bloom (Ophelia), Matt D’Amico (Marcellus), David DeSantos (Fortinbras/Cornelius/Player Queen), Graham Hamilton (Laertes), Matthew Henerson (Voltemand/Lucianus), Louis Lotorto (Osric), Henri Lubatti (Rosencrantz), and Jeff Marlow (Guildenstern). The ensemble includes Carrie Darrow, William Landsman, Andrew Matthews, and Dillon Tucker.

The creative team includes Ralph Funicello (set design), Ilona Somogyi (costume design), Pat Collins (lighting design), Obadiah Eaves (composer/sound design), and Robin McFarquhar (fight director). Sullivan won the Tony Award for Proof and is currently represented on Broadway by Prelude to a Kiss.

Linklater previously played Hamlet at the Long Wharf Theater and appeared Off-Broadway earlier this season in The Busy World Is Hushed. He currently stars as Matthew on the CBS series The New Adventures of Old Christine. Foxworth’s many stage credits include Henry V, The Crucible, and 12 Angry Men. He is well known for his role as Chase Gioberti on the CBS drama Falcon Crest. Urie has starred on stage in Othello and Romeo and Juliet and currently plays Marc St. James in the hit ABC series Ugly Betty.
