The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will present two free programs exploring the life and work of playwright John Osborne, both featuring John Heilpern, author of the new biography John Osborne: The Many Lives of the Angry Young Man and drama critic for The New York Observer.

On 6pm on Monday, April 23, actors Natasha Richardson and Michael Sheen will read excerpts from Osborne’s journals and many plays, including The Entertainer, Look Back in Anger, Luther, and A Patriot for Me. Heilpern will be on hand to provide commentary. Then, on May 17, Heilpern will engage in a conversation with noted editor and author Sir Harold Evans.

Both programs will take place at the Library’s Bruno Walter Auditorium (111 Amsterdam Avenue). Seating is available on a first come, first served basis; tickets are required for the April 23 program. For more information, call 212-642-0142 or visit www.nypl.org.
