Bagby, Cumming, Eckert, et al. Set for 2007 Edinburgh Festival

Benjamin Bagby, Alan Cumming, and Rinde Eckert are among the artists who will participate in the 2007 Edinburgh Intertnational Festival, to take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, August 10-September 2.

Cumming, the Tony Award-winning star of Cabaret, will star in playwright David Grieg’s new translation of Euripides’ The Bacchae. Bagby will bring his acclaimed production of Beowulf to the festival, while Eckert will co-star in his theatrical piece Orpheus X, which was first seen at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Other theatrical offerings at the festival will include the Wooster Group’s production of Francesco Cavalli’s opera La Didione, the Mabou Mines’ Obie-winning production of Dollhouse, based on Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, Vienna Schauspielhaus’ contemporary take on Montreverdi’s opera Poppea, and Optical Identity, a co-production of Scotland’s Theatre Cryptic and Shanghai’s T’ang Quartet.
