Andrews, Pike, Stephens, West, et al. Set to Return to West End

A host of top British actors are scheduled to return to the West End this spring.

Anthony Andrews, best known for the television series Brideshead Revisited, and Jenny Seagrove will star in Alan Strachan’s revival of W. Somerset Maugham’s 1927 play The Letter, which begins previews on May 1 at Wyndham’s. The show focuses on the wife of a Malaysian rubber planter who is accused of murdering a local playboy.

Two members of British acting dynasties, Samuel West and Toby Stephens, will join Dervla Kirwan for Roger Michell’s revival of Betrayal, Harold Pinter’s three-character drama about infidelity, which beings previews at the Donmar Warehouse on May 31. West is the son of actors Timothy West and Prunella Scales; Stephens is the son of Dame Maggie Smith and the late Robert Stephens.

Rosamund Pike and Kenneth Cranham will star in Peter Gill’s revival of Patrick Hamilton’s thriller Gaslight, which begins performances at the Old Vic on June 7, and film and stage star Mathew MacFayden will star in Bruce Norris’ satirical comedy The Pain and the Itch, which begins previews on June 21 at the Royal Court. The production will be directed by Dominic Cooke.
