Second Stage Theatre artistic director Carole Rothman announced today that the company’s acclaimed production of Douglas Carter Beane’s play The Little Dog Laughed will be presented on Broadway during the 2006-07 season.

In the play, an up-and-coming leading man and his over-zealous agent become entangled with a sexy young male prostitute and his naïve girlfriend. Roy Gabay will be the lead producer of the show on Broadway; Scott Ellis, who helmed the Off-Broadway production, will again direct.

At Second Stage, The Little Dog Laughed ran from January 9 through February 26, starring Johnny Galecki, Neal Huff, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Julie White. Although casting for the Broadway production has not been confirmed, it is likely that some or all of the Off-Broadway cast members — including White, who received rave reviews for her performance — will be on board. Complete casting, along with exact dates, theater, and other production details, will be announced upon confirmation.
