A stage adaptation of the wildly successful Disney Channel movie High School Musical will be released by Disney Theatrical Productions (DTP) and licensed by Music Theatre International (MTI) for local productions beginning this fall.

“The response to High School Musical has been phenomenal,” said Steve Fickinger of DTP. “Television audiences are connecting with the show and its music on an unprecedented level. We wanted to make the rights available for local productions across the country.”

The TV movie set viewership records when it was first telecast on January 20, 2006 and has since been seen by more than 30 million people. The soundtrack album has been certified platinum; it has also earned the distinction of topping the Billboard Hot 200 album chart and being the best-selling album on iTunes for three weeks.

Those interested in licensing High School Musical for production may pre-register at www.disney.com/hsm or contact MTI at www.mtishows.com.
