Original Cast Recording of Tarzan Will Be Released on June 27

The original cast recording of the new musical Tarzan, based on the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs novel and the 1999 animated Disney film, will be released by Walt Disney Records on June 27. The show began performances on March 24 at the Richard Rodgers Theater and will open officially on May 10.

Disney Theatrical Productions is producing the show, which is being directed by two-time Tony Award winner Bob Crowley. The score is by six-time Grammy Award winner Phil Collins and the book is by Tony winner David Henry Hwang. The show’s creative team includes Paul Bogaev (music producer-vocal arrangements), Doug Besterman (Orchestrations) and Jim Abbott (music director-dance arrangements).

Tarzan stars Josh Strickland in the title role, Jenn Gambatese as Jane, Merle Dandridge as Kala, Shuler Hensley as Kerchak, Chester Gregory II as Terk, Timothy Jerome as Professor Porter, and Donnie Keshawarz as Clayton. Daniel Manche and Alex Rutherford alternate in the role of Young Tarzan. The cast also includes Darrin Baker, Marcus Bellamy, Celina Carvajal, Dwayne Clark, Veronica deSoyza, Kearran Giovanni, Michael Hollick, Joshua Kobak, Kara Madrid, Kevin Massey, Anastacia McCleskey, Rika Okamoto, Marlyn Ortiz, Whitney Osentoski, John Elliott Oyzon, Andy Pellick, Angela Phillips, Stefan Raulston, Horace V. Rogers, Sean Samuels, Nick Sanchez, Niki Scalera, Natalie Silverlieb, JD Aubrey Smith, and Rachel Stern.
