The Thursday evening, June 15 performance of the Tony Award-winning musical The Light in the Piazza will be telecast live as part of PBS’s Live from Lincoln Center series. The show is scheduled to close at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre on July 2 and will begin a 50-week national tour in August.

The performance to be aired is scheduled to star Tony Award winner Victoria Clark, Sarah Uriarte Berry, Michael Berresse, Katie Clarke, Patti Cohenour, Beau Gravitte, Aaron Lazar, and Chris Sarandon. Adapted from Elizabeth Spencer’s novella about a mother and her mentally challenged daughter on vacation in Italy, the musical has a score by composer Adam Guettel and a book by Craig Lucas, and is directed by Bartlett Sher.

The show received six Tony Awards last season, including Best Score. The entire design team — set designer Michael Yeargan, costume designer Catherine Zuber, and lighting designer Christopher Akerlind — also won Tonys.
