Hamlisch, Love, Minnelli, Stritch, et. al. Set for New York Pops Birthday Gala

Liza Minnelli, Darlene Love, Peter Nero, rap star Kid Rock, and member of the cast of the Broadway hit Jersey Boys are among the guest performers set to appear in 88 Keys for Skitch: A Celebration of Piano, the 23rd birthday gala of the New York Pops, to be held at 7pm on Monday, May 8 at Carnegie Hall. Oscar winner Marvin Hamlisch will conduct the orchestra, and Tony Award winner Elaine Stritch will host the concert.
The event will also honor Ahmet Ertegun, founding chairman of Atlantic Records, and rap impresario Damon Dash. Among the other artists scheduled to perform are pianist-conductor Bob Lappin, singer Paolo Nutini, and 20 students from the New York Pops’ Salute to Music Education Program. Van Cliburn is honorary chairman of the gala.
