Playwrights Horizons has announced a final, one-week extension of the run of the musical Grey Gardens, which will now close on April 30. In related news, PS Classics will record the show’s cast album on April 27; no release date for the CD has yet been scheduled.

The extension of the sold-out show is partly due to the efforts of set designer Allen Moyer, who is also designing Playwrights Horizon’s next mainstage production, Keith Bunin’s The Busy World Is Hushed, set to begin performances on May 27. That show will star Christine Lahti, Luke MacFarlane, and Hamish Linklater.

Grey Gardens was recently nominated for five Lucille Lortel Awards, including Best Musical and Best Featured Actress for Mary Louise Wilson. Written by Doug Wright, Scott Frankel, and Michael Korie, the show is directed by Michael Greif and has musical staging by Jeff Calhoun. Christine Ebersole co-stars with Wilson; among the featured performers in the production are Sara Gettelfinger, Matt Cavenaugh, and John McMartin.
