Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE, With Music by The Beatles, to Open in Las Vegas

LOVE, a new Cirque du Soleil spectacular featuring the music of the legendary pop group The Beatles, will begin performances at a specially built theater at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on June 2 and is scheduled to open officially on June 30.

The project was born out of the friendship between Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté and the late George Harrison. Sir George Martin, the Beatles’ original producer, and his son Giles are the show’s music directors and have created the production’s unusual soundscape. A CD featuring the show’s songs will be released later this year by EMI Music.

The new theater boasts 360-degree seating and advanced, large format high definition video projections. LOVE is to be directed by Dominic Champagne, who created the show along with Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix. It will feature set design by Jean Rabasse, costume design by Philippe Guilotel, lighting design by Yves Aucoin, sound design by Jonathan Deans, video projection design by Francis LaPorte, and choreography by Hansel Cereza and Dave St-Pierre.
