2006 Drama League Award Nominees Announced

A total of 29 Broadway and Off-Broadway productions have been nominated for the 2006 Drama League Awards, which will be presented at the group’s 72nd annual awards ceremony and luncheon on Friday, May 5 at the Marriot Marquis.

Alan Cumming will host the event, at which Patti LuPone, Des McAnuff, and Marian Seldes will receive special awards for their career achievements. Awards will also be given for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play and Distinguished Revival of a Musical. In addition, 74 of the season’s top performers and three ensemble casts will be honored for their work, including Broadway first-timers Harry Connick, Jr., Cyndi Lauper, Julia Roberts, and David Schwimmer. One of the 74 honorees will receive the Distinguished Performer Award during the ceremony.
