Encores! Announces Casting for Bye Bye Birdie

Complete casting for the City Center Encores! production of Bye Bye Birdie has been announced. The show will star Karen Ziemba as Rosie Alvarez and Daniel Jenkins as her boyfriend, Albert Peterson. Featured in the cast will be Doris Roberts as Albert’s mother, Mae; William Robert Gaynor as the Elvis Presley-like rock ‘n’ roll superstar Conrad Birdie; Jessica Grové as Birdie’s devoted fan, Kim McAfee; Walter Bobbie and Victoria Clark as Kim’s parents and William Ullrich as her younger brother; and Keith Nobbs as Kim’s boyfriend, Hugo Peabody.

The Charles Strouse-Lee Adams score for Bye Bye Birdie includes “Put on a Happy Face,” “Kids,” “The Telephone Hour,” “Honestly Sincere,” “One Last Kiss,” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do.” The original Broadway production of the musical was directed by Gower Champion and starred Dick Van Dyke, Chita Rivera, Kaye Medford, Paul Lynde, and Susan Watson.
