"Why Shakespeare? Why Now?" is the subject of the Drama Desk's annual Spring Luncheon and Panel Discussion, scheduled to take place at Sardi's on Friday, April 4.

Moderated by playwright, critic, and Drama Desk member Carol Rocamora, the discussion will focus on the current theater season's Shakespearean trend. The panel will feature actor Michael Pennington (starring as King Lear at the Theatre for a New Audience in Brooklyn), actor Scott Shepherd (Cry, Trojans!, The Wooster Group's Troilus & Cressida), and director Daniel Sullivan (The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare in the Park).

The luncheon and panel discussion will be held in the Eugenia Room on the fourth floor of Sardi's from 11:45am-2:30pm. The event will be held in advance of the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards, presented by TheaterMania, scheduled to take place on Sunday June 1 at the Town Hall.
