MCC Theater has announced plans to partner with 14th Street Y Camps to create a Spring Break Theater Camp from April 16-22. The weeklong event will offer students in elementary and middle school the opportunity to attend various classes including acting, dance, improv, music, and African-American theater.
No previous theater experience is necessary to enroll in the Spring Break Theater Camp, which will end with an Improv Marathon Extravaganza starring members of the MCC Youth Company.
"We are delighted to be partnering with the phenomenal teaching artists from the MCC Theater Company, who will be bringing their years of theatrical expertise to our youth," said Chloe Markowitz, director of Youth Programs at the 14th Street Y.
MCC Theater aims to produce edgy, innovative new work by today's most provocative and vibrant artists. The company is dedicated to discovering and developing challenging, engrossing theater to present on its main stage, while simultaneously nurturing the development of emerging young voices through literary and education programs.
The 14th Street Y serves over 10,000 New York City's East Village residents each year with a variety of community programs and arts and cultural events.
