Writer and director John Cameron Mitchell will be the subject of the April edition of Justin Sayre's The Meeting, which is scheduled to take place on April 20 at Joe's Pub. The comedy/variety show returns to Lower Manhattan, playing at Joe's Pub through May, following a six-month residency at the midtown supper club 54 Below.

The John Cameron Mitchell-themed event comes just in time for the Broadway debut of his cult favorite musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The show is playing at the Belasco Theatre and stars Broadway favorite Neil Patrick Harris.

A combination of outrageous comedy, politics, and cultural commentary, The Meeting features an iconic artist or cultural work held in high esteem by the gay community. Honorees are selected by the show's creator, writer, and host Justin Sayre, who brings in additional guest performers to add to the evening's program.

Upcoming 2014 shows include a tribute to pop diva Janet Jackson on May 18 and Night of a Thousand Judys on June 16.
