On March 17, The Public Theater hosted its latest Public Forum, inspired by Alisa Solomon's new book Wonder of Wonders, a cultural history of the musical Fiddler on the Roof. Featuring Harvey Fierstein (who played Tevye on Broadway), the musical's coauthor Sheldon Harnick, original Broadway cast member Austin Pendleton, Yiddish theatermaker Jenny Romaine, Hartbeat Ensemble Director of Audience Engagement Taneisha Duggan, and Solomon herself, the discussion, titled An Evening With Tevye and Chava, explored how generations of storytellers used Sholom Aleichem's characters to reflect the changing concerns of time.
