Flashback Friday: Sylvester Stallone Went Musical Long Before Rocky Did

Fingers crossed, the song “Drinkenstein” will be a bonus feature on ”Rocky”’s Broadway cast album.

Rocky celebrated its Broadway opening last night at the Winter Garden Theatre, as did the musical's coauthor (and the original boxing underdog) Sylvester Stallone. In celebration of Stallone's official arrival on the Great White Way, TheaterMania decided to flashback to another musical venture of his — a heartfelt rendition of an original Dolly Parton tune called "Drinkenstein," which he beautifully crooned in the 1984 film Rhinestone. Only eight years after taking on Apollo Creed in the ring, he traded in his boxing gloves for a pair of yellow sequined pants.
