The Playwrights Realm has named Alexander Orbovich as its newest managing director. Orbovich, who took over the post on Monday, February 24, succeeds Renee Blinkwolt, who recently took over as managing director of Ars Nova.

Before joining The Playwrights Realm, Orbovich worked in various capacities at The Guthrie, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, New York Theatre Workshop, and Cherry Lane Theatre. While managing director of the Hell's Kitchen theater collective Exit, Pursued by a Bear, Alexander produced seven of EPBB's signature Labs including the New York premieres of These Seven Sicknesses, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler starring Tony Award winner Billy Porter (Kinky Boots), and Kooman and Dimond's musical Dani Girl.

"I first met Alexander years ago when he was working at Cherry Lane Theatre as a Company Manager and have followed his work as Managing Director at Exit, Pursued by a Bear," said Playwrights Realm Artistic Director Katherine Kovner. "I'm thrilled to announce that he is now joining The Playwrights Realm as our Managing Director. Knowledgeable and innovative thinkers, like Alexander, are exactly who we need on our team as The Realm continues to grow."

"I have been fan of The Realm's mission and work for many years," Orbovich said. "Their multi-level dedication to playwrights and the impact of this dedication on the lives of its playwrights is truly inspiring. I am excited to work with Katherine, the staff, and Board to further advance The Realm's mission of helping writers to build meaningful artistic careers."
