Noël & Company will launch its Eva Le Gallienne Festival 2013 with a staged reading of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts, translated by the late Tony and Emmy Award winner Eva Le Gallienne (The Royal Family), on Tuesday March 26 at 7pm at The Players Club. Artistic Director Keith Merrill will direct the production.
The cast of Ghosts will include Tony Award winner Richard Easton (The Coast of Utopia), Theatre World Award Winner Michael Urie (Buyer & Cellar), and Rachel Pickup (Dancing at Lughnasa). Live music will be provided by cellist Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf of the Salon Concert Society.
In addition to the reading, an exhibition of some of Le Gallienne's most treasured possessions will be on display. The evening will be also illuminated by guest speakers, including author Helen Sheehy and producer Anne Kaufman.
In Ghosts, a family's darkest secrets are revealed, causing the world of the Alvings to unravel and the shadows of the past to wreak havoc. Le Gallienne played the role of Mrs. Alving in the show's 1948 Broadway production.
The festival, which celebrates the life and work of theatre pioneer Eva Le Gallienne, will run through December. Specific programming and casting will be announced at a later date.
