Full casting has been announced for Playwrights Horizons' Far From Heaven, a new musical with a book by Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg (Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Assembled Parties), music by Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens), and lyrics by Michael Korie (Grey Gardens). The production, directed by Michael Greif (Grey Gardens) will run May 8-June 30, with an opening on June 2.
The cast will be led by four-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara (The Light in the Piazza) and her costar from the play's Williamstown Theatre Festival production Steven Pasquale (The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide…). Additional cast members will include J.B. Adams (Parade), Marinda Anderson (The Fringe's From the Inside, Out), Olivier Award nominee Nancy Anderson (Wonderful Town), Elainey Bass (Radio City Christmas Spectacular), Obie Award winner Quincy Tyler Bernstine (In the Next Room…), Justin Scott Brown (Les Misérables), Obie Award winner Alma Cuervo (Cabaret), Korey Jackson (Wild with Happy), Isaiah Johnson (Peter and the Starcatcher), Jake Lucas (Newsies), James Moye (Million Dollar Quartet), Julianna Rigoglioso (Mary Poppins national tour), Sarah Jane Shanks (Wicked), Tess Soltau (The Addams Family), Mary Stout (Me and My Girl), and Victor Wallace (Mamma Mia!).
In Far From Heaven, Cathy Whitaker is seemingly the picture-perfect wife and mother in 1957 suburban Connecticut. However, beneath the surface, secret longings and forbidden desires cause her world to unravel.
The play will feature scenic design by Tony Award nominee Allen Moyer, costume design by five-time Tony Award winner Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Tony Award winner Kenneth Posner, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, projection design by Peter Nigrini, and orchestrations by Tony Award winner Bruce Coughlin. Musical Director is Lawrence Yurman.
