The new Broadway production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella will have its magic preserved with a cast recording. On March 18, the original Broadway cast will enter the studio to create a recording for Ghostlight Records.
In addition to all of the well-known and beloved songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, this recording will include some of the duo's musical material that has never been recorded before, including "Me, Who am I?" and "Now is the Time."
Cinderella features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II as well as a new book by Douglas Carter Beane. Mark Brokaw directs the production, which includes music adaptation and arrangements by David Chase. Andy Einhorn is music director and conductor. The cast is led by Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde) in the title role and Drama Desk Award winner Santino Fontana (Brighton Beach Memoirs) as Prince Topher. The cast also features Tony Award winners Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza) as the Fairy Godmother and Harriet Harris (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Madame, along with Peter Bartlett (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Sebastian, Ann Harada (Avenue Q) and Marla Mindelle (Sister Act) as the stepsisters, and Greg Hildreth (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Jean-Michel.
