Tony Award winner Brent Carver (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Tony Award nominee Hannah Yelland (Brief Encounter), and Broadway veteran Mark Harelik (The Light in the Piazza) are among the cast of McCarter Theatre Center's upcoming production of William Shakespeare's romantic tragicomedy The Winter's Tale, set to run April 2-21 under the direction of Rebecca Taichman (Milk Like Sugar). The work is produced in association with The Shakespeare Theatre Company.
Shakespeare's genre-bending play follows a jealous king who banishes his wife in a fit of rage and abandons their daughter on a remote island. Joining Carver (as Camillo), Yelland (as Hermione), and Harelik (as Leontes/Autolycus) in the cast are Sean Arbuckle (The Importance of Being Earnest) as Polixenes, Todd Bartels (Bingo with the Indians) as Florizel, Nancy Robinette (Souvenir) as Paulina, Tom Story (Next Fall) as The Clown, Ted van Griethuysen (Inadmissible Evidence) as Antigonus/Old Shepherd, and Heather Wood (Three Sisters) as Mamillius/Perdita.
The creative team includes Christine Jones (scenic design), David Zinn (costume design), Christopher Akerland (lighting design), Matt Tierney (sound design), Nico Muhly (original music), and Camille A. Brown (choreography).
