Zach Grenier, Ron Cephas Jones, Tonya Pinkins Set for Storefront Church

Bob Dishy, Giancarlo Esposito, Zach Grenier, Ron Cephas Jones and Tonya Pinkins will star in the Atlantic Theater Company’s world premiere of Storefront Church, written and directed by John Patrick Shanley. The play (previously entitled Sleeping Demon) will be the first production to return to Atlantic’s main stage Linda Gross Theater in Chelsea following completion of a $8.3M renovation. It will run May 16-June 24 with an opening on June 11.

The play concerns a Bronx borough President (Esposito) who is forced, by the mortgage crisis into a confrontation with a local minister (Cephas Jones). The work is the final installment of Shanley’s trilogy called Church and State, which began with the Pulitzer Prize-winning Doubt.

The production will feature scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Matthew Richards and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
