Tony Goldwyn, Laura Osnes, Patrick Page, Brooke Shields Set for Carnegie Hall’s The Sound of Music

Casting has been announced for Carnegie Hall’s concert production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, to be presented at 8pm on Tuesday, April 24.


Gary Griffin will direct the production, which will feature an adaptation by David Ives, musical direction by Rob Fisher, conducting the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and the Women of the Mansfield University Concert Choir, and choreography by Joshua Bergasse.


The cast will feature Laura Osnes as Maria Rainer, Tony Goldwyn as Captain von Trapp, Brooke Shields as Elsa Schräder, Patrick Page as Max Detweiler, Stephanie Blythe as The Mother Abbess, Joy Hermalyn as Sister Berthe, Linda Mugleston as Sister Margaretta, Faith Sherman as Sister Sophia, Veanne Cox as Frau Schmidt, and Daniel Truhitte as Baron Elberfeld.


The roles of the von Trapp children will nclude members of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus: Jake Montagnino as Friedrich, Olivia Knutsen as Louisa, Jacob Sutton as Kurt, Grace Luckett as Brigitta, Natalie Hawkins as Marta, and Charlotte Knutsen as Gretl. Remaining cast members will be announced at a later date.


The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic consultant), Wendall K. Harrington (video and projection design), Nevin Steinberg (sound desing), and Paul Tazewell (costume consultant).
