Stockard Channing to Take Hiatus from Broadway’s Other Desert Cities to Film ABC Pilot

Stockard Channing will take a brief hiatus from the Broadway production of Jon Robin Baitz’s Other Desert Cities, at the Booth Theatre, to film a role for an ABC pilot. She will be out of the production from March 14 through April 5, with understudy Lauren Klein covering her role of Polly Wyeth during that interval.

The as-yet-untitled pilot will star Mandy Moore, but no details on the role Channing is filming have been released.

Directed by Joe Mantello, Other Desert Cities also stars Stacy Keach, Judith Light, Elizabeth Marvel and Justin Kirk. The play centers on a once promising novelist, who has written a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in her family’s history.
