Steve Martin to Compose Music for Shakespeare in the Park’s As You Like It

Stage and screen star Steve Martin will compose original music for the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of As You Like It, which will perform at the Delacorte Theater, June 5-30. Daniel Sullivan will direct.
In the play, Rosalind and her boyfriend Orlando find themselves in the enchanted Forest of Arden, where all the world’s a stage, and where sudden infatuation is as confusing as it is beautiful.
The cast will feature the previously reported Lily Rabe (Rosalind) along with the newly announced Macintyre Dixon (Adam); Renee Elise Goldsberry (Celia); and Omar Metwally (Oliver).
The production will have scenic design by John Lee Beatty; costume design by Jane Greenwood; lighting design by Natasha Katz; and sound design by Acme Sound Partners.
In related news, the dates for the Shakespeare in the Park production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical Into the Woods will be July 23-August 25, with an opening on August 9.
