Scandinavian American Theater Company to Present American Premiere of Pinocchio’s Ashes

Scandinavian American Theater Company is set to present the American premiere of Danish playwright Jokum Rohde’s Pinocchio’s Ashes, April 13-29 at Theater for the New City. Henning Hegland will direct.

Pinocchio’s Ashes is set in the city of Kongstad, where a national ban has been imposed on art and culture, a law that is enforced by ordering severe punishments of those secretly practicing art.

The cast will include Alfred Gingold (Judge Wolff), Neal Moeller (District Attorney Alexander Trocchi), Mike James (Werner Brown), Sue-Ellen Mandell (Miranda), Albert Bendix (Marc Dutroux), Tiago Castro (the Waiter), Lisa Pettersson (Carola Lang), and Izzy Hanson-Johnston (Mary).

The design team will be comprised of Julia Przedmojska (set design), Gertjan Houben (lighting design), Jay Spriggs (sound design), Dasha Martikainen and (costume design). Nina Hobert composed original music for the production.
