PS Classics to Release Cast Recording of the Encores! Merrily We Roll Along

PS Classics will release the cast recording of the City Center Encores! production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Merrily We Roll Along. The two-disc set will be available for purchase on June 19.

As previously reported, the company for the show features Colin Donnell (Franklin Shepard), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Mary Flynn), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Charley Kringas), Elizabeth Stanley (Gussie Carnegie), Betsy Wolfe (Beth), Adam Grupper (Joe Josephson) and Zachary Unger (Frank Jr.), along with Whit Baldwin, Rachel Coloff, Ben Crawford, Joshua Dela Cruz, Bernard Dotson, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Marja Harmon, Leah Horowitz, Mylinda Hull, Michael X. Martin, Sean McKnight, Kenita R. Miller, Patricia Noonan, Andrew Samonsky, Pearl Sun, Charlie Sutton, Jessica Vosk, Karl Warden, and Michael Winther.

The show is about friendship and the compromise of youthful ideals, is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The Encores! production is based on Furth and Sondheim’s rewrite of the show for La Jolla Playhouse in 1985, with elements of the 1990 Leicester, England production and a subsequent York Theatre production in 1994 incorporated. Among the songs in the show are “Good Thing Going,” “Old Friends,” and “Not a Day Goes By.”
