On Monday, March 5, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS presented Broadway Backwards 7 at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre with Robert Bartley at the helm
Populated by performances of material usually sung by members of the opposite gender, the annual event benefits Broadway Cares and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. This year, the event raised a total of $329,000.
The cast featured Bryan Batt, Sierra Boggess, Jim Brochu, Betty Buckley, Charles Busch, Dan Butler, Mario Cantone, Len Cariou, Jenn Colella, Cicily Daniels, Robin De Jesús, Nancy Dussault, Harvey Evans, Anthony Federov, Barrett Foa, Shawna Hamic, Jackie Hoffman, LaChanze, Telly Leung, Jessie Mueller,, Andrew Rannells, Brian Charles Rooney, Jason Michael Snow, Elizabeth Stanley, George Takei,and Bruce Vilanch.
Among the musical selections were "Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "Go the Distance," "Tonight at 8," "If He Walked Into My Life," "Tonight," "The Music That Makes Me Dance," "I Still Believe," "I Know Him So Well," "It's Never Too Late to Fall In Love," "What Did I Have That I Don't Have," "Come Back to Me," "Something Wonderful," "The Game," "Old Fashioned Wedding," "I Am What I Am," and a medley of Sweeney Todd's "Not While I'm Around," "Johanna," and "Old Friends," performed by Buckley.
