The Off-Broadway production of Avenue Q celebrated its 1,000th performance at New World Stages on Wednesday, March 14.
Audience members at the performance received commemorative buttons to mark the occasion. Prior to the start of the show, current cast members Lexy Fridell, Nicholas Kohn, Veronica J. Kuehn, Kate Lippstreu, Michael Liscio, Jr., Rob Morrison, Hazel Anne Raymundo, Jed Resnick, Jeffrey David Sears, and Jasmin Walker, and their on-stage puppet counterparts, modeled the various souvenir pins, which read “A Monster Occasion,” “1000 Doesn’t Suck” and “Funnier With Age.”
After a six-year run at Broadway’s John Golden Theatre, the Tony Award-winning musical, which features a score by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, a book by Jeff Whitty, and direction by Jason Moore, moved Off-Broadway in 2009. The production originated Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre.
