Maly Drama Theatre’s artistic director Lev Dodin will present an artist talk on the subject of naturalism and Russian drama in the BAM Hillman Attic Studio on April 21 at 5pm. The talk will be moderated by literary critic Irina Prokhorova. Dodin’s vice-director Dina Dodina will translate.

Dodin has been the artistic director for Maly Drama Theatre since 1982. His latest production, Three Sisters, will run at the BAM Harvey Theater, April 18-28.

This Russian tale follows the Prozorov sisters and their brother Andrey who are forced to leave Moscow for life in a provincial town. Following the death of their father, the family bravely confronts the tragic discrepancies between yearnings and reality, and a saga unfolds about the vital importance of staying true to oneself while struggling with the burden of everyday life.
