Mahira Kakkar to Star in New York Premiere of No Word in Guyanese for Me

The Directors Studio will present the New York premiere of Wendy Graf’s GLAAD Award-winning play No Word in Guyanese for Me, April 11-30. Joey Brenneman will direct.

Religious and sexual identity, parental bonds, and cultures clash in No Word in Guyanese for Me, the story of a gay, Guyanese Muslim. The play is inspired by true stories of gay Muslim teenagers.

The production will star Mahira Kakkar, who has appeared in New York productions such as Miss Witherspoon at Playwrights Horizons, Opus at Primary Stages, and Sophistry at New World Stages. Her film and television credits include In Real Life, The Life of Pi, The Big C, and Blue Bloods.
