Liza Minnelli – Live at the Winter Garden to Get First-Time CD Release

Liza Minnelli – Live at the Winter Garden will be available for online purchase on April 3 and on sale in retail outlets May 8. This new release from Masterworks Broadway will mark the first time the album, recorded during the legendary star’s 1974 Broadway concerts, has been available on CD.

The disc preserves the concerts that marked Liza Minnelli‘s return to Broadway in early 1974 in a production directed by Bob Fosse, and choreographed by Ron Lewis. The show featured selections from Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret as well as new material by the songwriters.

The new release has been created using the original master and will feature the addition of three live bonus tracks, not heard on the LP, which was withdrawn from circulation shortly after its release due to contractual issues.

Minnelli’s most recent Broadway show, Liza’s at the Palace, won a 2009 Tony for Best Special Theatrical Event. She also won Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical for Flora the Red Menace and The Act. She won the Academy Award for Cabaret and the Emmy Award for Liza With a “Z”.
