Kaye Ballard, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rita Gardner to Receive Bistro Awards

The recipients of the 27th Annual Bistro Awards have been announced. The awards will be presented at a ceremony, to be held at Gotham Comedy Club, on Monday, April 23 at 6:30pm.

Special honorees include Kaye Ballard (Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award), Dee Dee Bridgewater (Ongoing Artistry in Jazz), and Warren Vaché (Ongoing Excellence as a Jazz Instrumentalist).

Rita Gardner, who was the original “Girl” in The Fantasticks, is the winner of the Bistro Award for Major Engagement for her show, Try to Remember…, a look back at the early years of Off Broadway.

Awards will also be given to Joyce Breach (Ongoing Vocal Artistry), Lauren Fox (Debut), Nicolas King (Vocalist), Billie Roe (Theme Show), Justin Sayre (Comedy Artistry); Parker Scott and Wells Hanley (Recording, Selecting Souvenirs); Jon Weber (Musical Director), Aaron Weinstein (Ira Eaker Special Achievement Award), and Amy Beth Williams (Vocalist).

Bistros will also be given to the musical series, If It Only Even Runs a Minute, created and produced by Jennifer Ashley Tepper and Kevin Michael Murphy with musical direction by Caleb Hoyer; the musical comedy, Max & Maxine: Together…Again!, conceived, written, and performed by Gary Adler, Bryan Scott Johnson, and Jen Perry; and the tribute show, Russ Garcia 95th Birthday Show, by Terese Genecco, Shaynee Rainbolt, Billy Stritch, and Russ Garcia.
