Freddie Gershon, Artie Siccardi, and TDF Open Doors have been named as the recipients of the 2012 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre. The awards will be presented at the annual Tony Eve Cocktail Party on Saturday, June 9.

Gershon conceived Music Theatre International's Broadway KIDS/Broadway JR., which introduces musical theatre in 30- and 60-minute author approved versions of Broadway works to elementary and middle schools adapted for performance by students.

Siccardi, in his position as Production Supervisor of Arthur Siccardi Theatrical Services, Inc., has overseen more than 200 Broadway productions.

TDF Open Doors is the Theatre Development Fund's arts education program, in which working theater professionals serve as mentors who introduce New York City public high school students to theater

The Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre were established in 1990 and are awarded annually to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theatre, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories.
