Stage and screen star David Strathairn will join the previously reported Jessica Chastain in the Broadway revival of The Heiress. Moisés Kaufman will direct the production, which will play a theater to be announced in Fall 2012.

Adapted from the Henry James novel Washington Square by Ruth and Augustus Goetz, the play centers on Catherine Sloper (Chastain), a woman from a wealthy family being courted by a handsome man whom her disapproving father (Strathairn) believes is only after her sizable inheritance.

Stathairn recently completed a run in Wajdi Mouawad’s Scorched at the American Conservatory Theater. His New York stage credits include Three Sisters, Dance of Death, Salome, Eyes for Consuela, The Winter’s Tale, and Conversations in Tusculum. The actor won an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Temple Grandin, and he received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Edward R. Morrow in Good Night, and Good Luck.
