MCC Theater’s production of the musical Carrie, playing at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, will close on April 8. The production had, as previously reported, been scheduled to run through April 22.

This newly reworked and fully re-imagined production features music by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (who also adapted the 1974 novel by Stephen King for the 1976 Brian DePalma film). Stafford Arima has directed the production.

Set today, in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie stars Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie as the title character’s evangelical mother, Margaret White, and Molly Ranson as the lonely, vengeful, yet fragile girl at the center of it all.

The cast also includes Christy Altomare, Carmen Cusack, Jeanna de Waal, Derek Klena, Ben Thompson, Wayne Wilcox, Corey Boardman, Blair Goldberg, F. Michael Haynie, Andy Mientus, Elly Noble, Jen Sese, Mackenzie Bell, Jake Boyd and Anne Tolpegin.

Patrons who have purchased tickets for performances after April 8 can reschedule by calling 212-352-3101.
