Sheldon Harnick, Bonnie Comley, Frank Cullen to Receive Theatre Museum Awards

Sheldon Harnick, Bonnie Comley and Frank Cullen are among the winners of the 2011 Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence, to be presented in a ceremony at the New York Players Club on Monday, May 16, at 6pm. Tony Walton is directing the event.

Harnick will receive the Career Achievement Award. Among his many musicals are Fiddler on the Roof, Fiorello!, She Loves Me, The Apple Tree and The Rothchilds.

Producer Comley will receive the Service to the Theatre Award. Among her many credits are The Merchant of Venice, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Come Fly Away and Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps.

Cullen will receive the History Preservation Award, for such activities as co-founding, with Donald McNeilly, The American Vaudeville Museum, and serving as lead researcher on the two-volume Vaudeville, Old & New: an Encyclopedia of Variety Performers in America.

In addition, The Frank Sinatra School of the Arts will receive The Theatre Museum’s Theatre Arts Education Award.
