Broadway veterans Janet Dacal and Hugh Panaro and Sesame Street‘s Bob McGrath were among the guest stars at the Young People’s Chorus of New York City’s fundraising gala, entitled Dreamer, held at Frederick P. Rose Hall on Monday, March 7.

Among the concert’s highlights was “The Song I Sing,” written especially for YPC by Tony Award-winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. Additional guests who joined the chorus, led by artistic director and founder Francisco J. Núñez, included jazz pianist Eldar Djangirov, violinist Ryu Goto, and The New York Pops.

Funds raised from the gala support general operating expenses and scholarships for many of YPC’s members in fulfillment of its mission of providing children of diverse abilities and backgrounds with a unique program of music education and choral performance that seeks to fulfill each child’s musical potential, while creating a model of artistic excellence and harmony that enriches the community.
