Tony Award winner Sir Elton John will host NBC’s Saturday Night Live on April 2, according to published reports. He will also appear as the show’s musical guest along with Leon Russell, his collaborator on the CD, The Union.

Oscar winner and stage veteran Helen Mirren will host the April 9 episode, with special musical guest, The Foo Fighters

John is currently represented on Broadway by the scores to Billy Elliot and The Lion King. He also wrote the scores to Aida, for which he won the Tony, and Lestat. He is also represented on the big screen by the animated feature Gnomeo & Juliet, which he executive produced and which features many of his greatest hits.

Mirren’s many stage credits include Dance of Death and Phedre. She won the Academy Award for The Queen and recently appeared on the big screen in Julie Taymor’s adaptation of The Tempest. She will be seen next month in the remake of Arthur, opposite Russell Brand.
