Deborah Eisenberg Wins PEN/Faulkner Award

Deborah Eisenberg, whose short stories provided the basis for Michael John LaChiusa’s musical, Little Fish, has won this year’s PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction for The Collected Stories of Deborah Eisenberg, according to published reports.

Eisenberg will receive $15,000. The foundation praised Eisenberg’s stories for “their exceptional language and nuanced evocation of thought and emotion.”

Little Fish was produced in New York by Second Stage and was later produced by Los Angeles’ Blank Theatre Company.
