Alison Fraser, Jenn Gambatese, Mamie Gummer, Hamish Linklater Set for David Ives’ School for Lies at CSC

Two time Tony Award nominee Alison Fraser will join Jenn Gambatese, Mamie Gummer, and Hamish Linklater in Classic Stage Company’s presentation of The School for Lies, to run April 13-May 22, with an opening on May 1. Walter Bobbie will direct.

David Ives’ new comedy is adapted from the Molière classic The Misanthrope. The cast will also include Steven Boyer, Frank Harts, Rick Holmes, Hoon Lee and Matthew Maher.

The production will feature scenery by John Lee Beatty, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski, hair design by Paul Huntley and sound by Acme Sound Partners.

Fraser, who will play Arisone, is currently starring Off-Broadway in The Divine Sister. Her many Broadway credits include Romance/Romance, The Secret Garden, Gypsy, Tartuffe, and The Mystery of Edwin Drood.


Gambatese, who will play Elainte, received an Outer Critics Circle nomination for her work in Broadway’s All Shook Up, with other Main Stem credits including Is He Dead?, Tarzan, Hairspray, A Year with Frog and Toad, and Footloose.

Gummer, who will play Celimene, has appeared on Broadway in Les Liasons Dangereuses, and received Lucille Lortel nominations for the Off-Broadway productions of Uncle Vanya and The Water’s Edge. She currently stars in the new ABC drama Off the Map.

Linklater, who will play Frank, has appeared Off-Broadway in productions such as The Winter’s Tale, The Merchant of Venice, The Busy World Is Hushed, Recent Tragic Events, and Good Thing. He currently appears in the CBS sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine.
