Alan Bates, Daniel Day-Lewis, Janet McTeer, et al. Featured in The Alan Bennett Collection

The BBC has just released the DVD The Alan Bennett Collection featuring An Englishman Abroad. The 4-disc collection spans more than 20 years of the playwright’s work with over 10 hours of programming.


Alan Bates stars in An Englishman Abroad, which was inspired by Coral Browne’s real-life encounter the notorious spy Guy Burgess. This collection also features The Insurance Man, starring Daniel Day Lewis; A Question of Attribution, starring Prunella Scales and James Fox; 102 Boulevard Haussmann, starring Bates and Janet McTeer; and A Visit from Miss Prothero , starring Patricia Routledge, among other plays and features.

In addition, on April 26, the BBC will release the DVD of the new PBS series Upstairs Downstairs, starring Dame Eileen Atkins, Art Malik, Jean Marsh, and Adrian Scarborough. The DVD also includes the making-of featurette, Upstairs Downstairs – Behind Closed Doors.
