Showtime’s The Big C, Starring Laura Linney, to Premiere August 16

The new Showtime series The Big C, starring Laura Linney, will premiere on August 16 and play Monday nights at 10:30pm, according to a report in Variety.

As previously announced, Linney will play a woman who has been diagnosed with cancer. The show is created by Darlene Hunt, who will executive produce with Linney, Neal Moritz, and Vivian Cannon. The series co-stars Tony nominee Oliver Platt and Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe.

Linney currently stars in the Broadway production of Time Stands Still. She received Tony nominations for The Crucible and Sight Unseen, with additional Broadway credits including Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Uncle Vanya, and Holiday. She won the 2008 Emmy Award for HBO’s John Adams and is a three-time Oscar nominee for The Savages, Kinsey, and You Can Count on Me.
