The New Group’s production of The Kid: The Musical will now begin previews on April 16, with a new official opening date of May 10. Scott Elliott will direct the production. The change has been made to accommodate the shooting schedule for the musical’s star, Christopher Sieber, who will be filming a pilot.

The piece is based on sex columnist Dan Savage’s book The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant and features music by Andy Monroe, book by Michael Zam, and lyrics by Jack Lechner.

Complete casting has also been announced. Two-time Tony Award nominee Sieber will star as Savage, with the company also featuring Jill Eikenberry (Savage’s mother), Jeannine Frumess (Melissa), Lucas Steele (Terry), and Michael Wartella (Bacchus), along with Kevin Anthony, Susan Blackwell, Ann Harada, Tyler Maynard, Brooke Sunny Moriber, and Justin Patterson.
