Ming Cho Lee, Albert Wolsky, et al. to Receive Irene Sharaff Awards

The winners of the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards have been announced. The honors will be presented in a ceremony to be held on April 23 at the Hudson Guild Theater.

Two-time Academy Award winner Albert Wolsky will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award. Wolsky received Oscars for his costumes for All That Jazz and Bugsy and received Academy Award nominations for an additional five movies including Sophie’s Choice and Revolutionary Road. His stage credits include the Broadway productions of The Sunshine Boys, 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, and Sly Fox.

Tony Award-winning scenic designer Ming Cho Lee will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Robert L. B. Tobin Award for sustained excellence in theatrical design. Lee received a Tony Award for K2. Among his other Broadway credits are Billy and Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Costume designer Alejo Vietti will receive the Sharaff Young Master Award recognizing his work as a costume designer in New York on such productions as Nightingale and Rooms: A Rock Romance, along with his work in regional theater. Costume designer John David Ridge will receive the Sharaff Artisan Award. He was Tony-nominated in 1999 for the revival of Ring Round the Moon.

In addition to the presentation of the awards, the ceremony will feature a screening of a new 15-minute film about the life of the designer Randy Barceló, who died in 1994.
